Yes a couple of my teacher's in high school.. One being my English teacher trying to bring me outt a my shell and reciting before class. I was so shy but that shyness didnt come out for years till just a few years ago. Now I can get up in front of people and talk all because of her. My biology teacher was the next , exploring the possibilites of life and how we react. So many people to thank for what I am today.

My Dad was the biggest influence in my life. He was a truly fine human being. He lived with a handicap most of his life (and all of mine), and never complained about the pain he was in.
He rose above the cruelty of others, who would ask the nature of his handicap.
He taught my sister and myself how to be good people.
He stuck by my Mother, in spite of her personality difficulties.
His positive attitude was contagious.
He taught us to strive for the moon.

Guess what? I'm proud to say I reached the moon. I am his legacy.

I dated a drug addict for 2 years. He was abusive, and dishonest, but I wanted to help him. And, when sober, he wanted my help. It took me two years to realize that there was absolutely nothing I could do because he did not WANT to quit. He has been in rehab 4 times now, and still uses. Last time I saw him was when he was breaking into my house at 3AM. Now there is paperwork.

I can't say specifically how that made me a better person, but I know when it ended I knew I was some how.

Yes,a kid I knew at summer camp. He really had guts. He taught me everything I needed to know about fear - how not to fight it,but not let it control you,in fact to try to make it work for you - how to direct all that adrenalin from fear-flight to attack - not people but a challenging situation. How to calculate risk. All of it. I really admired the guy then and incredibly,I still do.

My grand father and I spent many hours in conversation in my teen years (13-17) on politics, social behavior, religion, human behavior. He did what many adults fail to do-he listened-and made me feel that my thoughts were of value and my feelings were validated.
