people will always need help. It is wrong to turn your back & refuse assistance. Welfare is essential but surely there is a better way in the 21st century so that everyone feels valued rich or poor.. I just pray that society never becomes that selfish it stops caring. Those who are obscenely wealthy yet do nothing for others could pave the way for change. If the Governments would lessen tax on the rich should they agree to adopt a family or individuals less fortunate & give them support.. then we just make a difference & change the system.. & the bonus:-- society would be less divided.

Well, the mentally ill and the elderly, not to mention the debilitatingly handicapped, are who it is for. No sane person wants you to throw them off welfare. But the able bodied, the addicted, and the willingly homeless (yes, they do exist) have no business stealing your money and mine so they can float along doing jack. Throwing them off welfare is good for society because the able bodied will be forced to find a job and contribute to society, and the drug addicted will have to do the same or die from their addiction, either of which halts their drain on our society. By the way, single mothers who are still trying to get back on their feet after four years of welfare need a whole lot more help then welfar can offer.

FIRST OFF IT IS MY FIRM BELIEF THAT EVERY ABLE MAN SHOULD WORK. SO THAT SAID: WELFARE HAS BECOME SOMEWHAT OF A NECESSARY EVIL. THE LAZY HAVE USED IT A TERRIBLE EXPENSE TO THE REST OF US. I REALIZE THAT THERE ARE THOSE IN NEED BUT LESS THAN 15% OF WELFARE RECIPIENTS ARE DISABLED OR IN NEED OF SPECIAL ASSISTANCE. ALSO THE MONEY TAKEN IN BY THE GOVERNMENT FOR WELFARE USUALLY DOESN'T EVER MAKE IT IN TO THE HANDS OF THE NEEDY. THE WELFARE SYSTEM IS YET ANOTHER WAY FOR A CORRUPT GOVERNMENT TO ESTABLISH MORE CONTROL AND DEPENDABILITY OVER ITS SUBJECTS. IN SHORT IF YOU ARE A RECIPIENT OF ANY GOVERNMENT CHARITY OR SPECIAL INTEREST BENIFITS. YOU HAVE BECOME A SLAVE. YOU BELONG TO THE MASTER WHO GIVES YOU THAT WICH YOU DID NOT EARN. IT WOULD SURE BE NICE TO SEE A REAL FREE ENTERPRISE SOLUTION.

Who cares, I don't. They need to find something to do or get a disability or retirement check through social security, which is not "welfare". S.S. is paid in by a person when they work. S.S.I. is for disabilities and a person doesn't have to have ever paid into to it to get a minimum amount paid to them if eligible every month.

Part of the long term conservative strategy to return to the 13th century when the rich ate and the poor starved then died young.

Due to the upcoming food shortages that will be caused by global warming we need a drastic cut in world population, mass starvation is the current administration's policy.
