And why? I believe it can, for example if you want something, like to get wealthy, you'll put all your time in working and no time with family..etc, but I also think envy could be a benifit. Envy can motivate you to be better, to set goals and go for them. I guess I really cant make up my mind about it..maybe I dont have a clear understanding of the difference between envy and desires, or goals...plz help! wouldnt envy be a benifit because it will motivate you to become a better person? or will it ruin you?

Desire is wanting something because YOU want it, not because someone has it ~ that is envy.

Goals is setting down a plan to gain something that YOU want, not because someone else has it ~ that is envy.

Envy is a desire to get or have things that someone has or to compete with them out of jealousy of what they have and really isn't a healthy step to take to reach goals or desires.

Envy can cause a person to be very cynical and sometimes cruel to others because you end up hurting them through your attitude and actions.

Years ago I had a person that I thought was my best friend do things like this to me because she was jealous and wanted things I had. Believe me, it hurt me for many reasons. Her envy caused her to betray me plus she broke my trust in people..... and what is sad is, she never apologized for all the pain she caused me.

Quick definitions (envy)

noun: spite and resentment at seeing the success of another (personified as one of the deadly sins)
noun: a feeling of grudging admiration and desire to have something possessed by another

Envy usually leads to dislike of the person that you envy. That alone is bad. Instead of getting to work to get what you want,
you then are angry upset and not in the right frame of mind to
go after your own dreams. So don't ever let you self envy another. It's ok to want things, but don't waste time on envy.

Envy can't help you become a better person because it moves your center away from yourself and dealing with your own problems and aspirations. Moving that focus anywhere outside yourself is destructive.

Yeah, cause if somebody was GREN with envy, they could be obsessed with the "problem " their whole life.
