congratulations to your yankees, ive said it to multiple yankee fans in the last 24 hours, the season still isnt over, so dont brag until you've won your division, we are playing baltimore, who either has lost 8 of last 9, or 9 in a row, and listen tb isnt that bad they just need a little better starting pitching, to become a top contender.

Schwab boy, no way ortiz would ever want to play for the yankees, he is a true red sox player, and the red sox are still in first, so that doesnt meen they suck especially if they have the best record in baseball. we have 5 ws wins in the last 100 years and one back in 1903, so 6 overall tied for 4th all time, and whoever said that was the three best pitchers, wakefield is better than schilling

Just an American, the Yankees remaining schedule is against teams with a combined a .478 winning percentage and Boston's remaining schedule is against teams with a combined .474 winning percentage. Don't try fooling anyone by saying the Yankees have a tougher schedule. The difference between .478 and .474 isn't enough to say that the Yankees have a tougher schedule ahead.

Have you guys looked at who the Red Sox & the Yankees have for opponents on the remaining schedule?

A bit tougher for the Yankees.

(Sept 2 Red Sox magic# now 20; Yankees magic# 32.)

Slow down dude! It was a good three game series but we have to hope that the Yankees don't let down with the Rays. We could be back at 8 games down after the weekend. Hopefully we are on the upswing again after visiting the west coast and detroit and getting whooped.

Hmmm....maybe this sweep would have meant more to the Yankees if they weren't SWEPT by the RED SOX earlier this season. Then theywould actually have a chance to take the division and not just limp into the wildcard race.

Go Mariners!!!

I'd give the Yankees their due props if they had beaten a complete Redsox team. With Manny out of the lineup, and with Kielty hurt, and unable to replace him, they were left to utilize a washed up has been by the name of Eric Hinske, who shouldn't be playing 3 consectutive INNINGS in LF, let alone 3 games. You take Manny out of the batting line up and not only do you lose one of the hottest bats in Baseball the last month, but the Yankees don't have to pitch to Ortiz. The one hittable pitch he got in the entire series hasn't landed yet.

It would be like taking A-Rod out of the line-up and replacing him with Shelly Duncan.

Hell, even A-Rod AND Torre, BOTH said that having Manny out of this series was "HUGE"

Lots of folks who wrote off the Yankees back in May are eating their words now. With 30 games or so to go, we're in a good position to lock down the wildcard, but naturally we'll be gunning for popping the Sox right out of the playoff picture for the second year in a row. Go Yanks!

That was a huge sweep and best of all we did it against their top 3 pitchers three days in a row.
