I have a classmate who wants to take me to the hairsalon to change my hairstyle or something. However I'm not sure if I should go with her becuz 1.I have some self image issues and I'm afraid to spend money at the salon and feel like it was a waste of time and $ cuz I'll probably still hate the way I look. (A haircut doesn't usually make me feel better about myself)

2.I'm afraid that I will look stupid infront of my other classmates becuz it will look like I have no voice of my own and no self identity (because I'll be letting someone else convince me to change my hairstyle)

At the same time I do want to go with her because I need more friends and this will be the perfect opportunity to gain a new friend. So what shoud I do??? Will I look stupid if I let her convince me to change my hairstyle??

Yes she does have good taste. I don't like my hairstyle but I don't hate it either

I think it's really up to you,if you feel like it's good opportunity to change your style and make new friends(which in my opinion looks shouldn't matter in order to make friends)but if you want to them go for it =)

No offense, but why are you letting this person control you and make decisions for you? I understand you want more friends, but acting like a doormat isn't a way to get more friends.

Do you really know this person well? If you don't, who knows what she really has planned; you could end up with a buzz cut or something.

I would really suggest talking to an adult you trust and like about your self-image and self-esteem issues or seek counseling with a professional. I'm very concerned that you're willing to do almost anything to get friends and attention. If you're really interested in making new friends, I'd suggest getting involved with clubs and activities in or out of school so you're around new people you have something in common with.

The best way to gain self esteem is to stay true to yourself. If you want to change your hairstyle, it should be your choice, not someone elses. Always stand up for yourself and what you believe...and you'll see your self esteem will flourish. You will gain the right friends, who will like you for who you are, not what you look like. You don't need to put on any airs, just be yourself. Don't care about what others think....young people worry about that way too much. You'll find they change their minds from one day to the next anyways. Respect yourself...and others will too.!!

Well, if you really want to go...then go! If you care about what your other classmates think and don't go because of that, then that's not voicing your own opinion and showing who you truly are either. Go, try to allow yourself to have some fun but be careful of dishing any dirt on yourself or others and don't do anything drastic to your hair. Get something YOU'LL like not something others will think is cool or like. Best of luck!

I would say don't do a dramatic change. A new, fresh haircut can perk up your self-esteem. Just get layers and maybe get it parted differently. Get the split ends trimmed and some silk drops. It'll work. If you like your hair the way it is, keep it that way.

All I see this as a great opportunity to have some fun and try something new. Go out w/ her if you like her and would like to be friends, not to impress anybody or that you NEED more friends. It's not about having more friends or to be cool. It's about having fun and doing something fun w/ someone else. Go for it!

Well make sure YOU pick the hairstyle. Or if you want ask the hair stylist what looks good on you. Or don't do it at all. This is you're choice.

so don't change your hair to much get a trim and a few highlight that is nothing extreme then you will bouns a new friend and a little bit of a different look. you could suggest to get a pedi or your nails done instead.
