Yeah, that is very wrong. As in the date and the quantities are wrong. Who proof reads this stuff?

Wrong!

The first manned moon landing on Earth's Moon was the United States' Apollo 11 mission, commanded by Neil Armstrong accompanied by Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin.

Armstrong landed the lunar module Eagle on the surface of the Moon at 4:17:42 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, July 20, 1969. They spent a day on the surface of the Moon and then returned to Earth.

A total of six such manned moon landings were carried out between 1969 and 1972.

The Soviet Union later achieved sample returns via the unmanned moon landings Luna 16, Luna 20 and Luna 24. Since this was during the time of the cold war the contest to be the first on the Moon was one of the most visible facets of the space race.

Boy, someone didn't check the facts on that one.

NASA has landed 6 manned missions on the moon, for a total of 12 astronauts to set foot on the moon. The first was in July 1969.
There was an unmanned landing in 1968 - Surveyor 7. Maybe that's what they were referring to.

The Apollo program was the third human spaceflight program undertaken by NASA, on behalf of the United States of America. Its goal — "...before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth," (as U.S. President John F. Kennedy announced in 1961) — was accomplished on July 20, 1969, with the Apollo 11 landing of astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, and with Michael Collins orbiting above. To date, it is the only series of spaceflights to land humans on another world, and thus is widely respected and an inspiration for future spaceflights. The program used the Apollo spacecraft and Saturn launch vehicle, and was conducted during the years 1961 – 1975, with a total of SIX successful landings.

The year is also wrong. The first moon landing was in 1969. There were several others in the following years.

here is a bit of a chronology http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/lunar/lunartimeline.html

But sadly when we skip paying attention to history in school this is the result. Bad information passed on as fact. Why sources like the wikipedia are under constant revision. Lots of people who are sure they are but only some that check their facts.

Consider the source. I think its a bad translation from Russian. It should be "The only moon landing PROGRAM in history ..."

Yeah, that's pretty funny. Probably like a lot of the stuff written on here, by people who weren't alive at the time. It's heck to get old, y'know?

Wow. I sure do miss the Yahoo Message boards so we could ad comments to stories and argue about them.
