List as many as you possibly can. I want your opinions on what they ARE, not a rant on what they are not.

If all you're going to do is spew off anti-liberal, anti-conservative, anti-Democrat, or anti-Republican hatred, keep it to yourself. I don't want to see it.

I want honest answers.

Google- I agree... I'm just curious as to how different opinions are on here, about the subject.

My family values are:

1. Honoring the commitment I made to my husband 16 years ago, to love, honor and cherish him.

2. Providing a safe, loving, stable environment for my children.

3. Raising those children to be responsible, civic-minded, kind and caring people.

4. Showing my children, by example, how to accomplish those goals (i.e. volunteerism, voting, etc.)

5. Teaching my kids not to judge others.

A family is a child and their parent or parents. While I think some arrangements are preferable this is not always the case so I'd like to see less stress on idealism and forcing ones own parental arrangements on others. Family values must center around the children. Won't someone please think of the children?! comes to mind. Decisions that protect their natural innocence and lack of sexuality until they grow up, that protect their bodies..their skin, their health, that allow them to mature and develop both physically and psychologically, that allow them to feel safe and to be themselves, to become individiuals and not carbon copies of someone else or to have such low self esteem they do nothing at all. While I feel a variety of people COULD do this, it is nearly always a loving biological parent with the bonding hormones firmly in place that do it best. This occurs through pregnancy, breastfeeding, holding, tending to, nurturing aka spoiling that creates this bond. So women and their mates make the best parents naturally. Others desire children or would make good nurturers but rarely should that translate to adoption unless the other things are in place.
Public policies that support parents in raising their children are best. That support family values that center around the child as the family and not on the whims of adults are the best policies. Public education should be the basics and the rest should be up to parents and television.

"Family values" should mean getting back to being a family.

First of all if people are going to have children and raise a family there should be a marriage (or civil union because it shouldn’t matter what sex the two parents are) and there should be a parent at home raising the children. People who don’t want to raise their children shouldn’t have them.
The government should pay or have a tax break to help make it possible for families to afford a stay-at-home parent.
Also, IMO, People who have or father children with different partners should have a limit on how many out-of-wed-lock one-night stand kids they should be allowed to produce.

Want to truly know? It's the values of each individual family. Not all of them are good, not all are bad. They tend to be on the basis of racism, manners, rhetoric, sexual tendencies, etc., but they're not a specific side. Everyone has different values, though in many cases they are very close. A society can dictate these values for the people that live in it, but those people choose to follow those values.

For me, I know and feel wholeheartedly that ever family has their own set of values. I just do my best to be the best father and husband that I can be. I encourage my children's' interests and I support my wife as best as I can (she's a public school teacher) when she disagrees with how the district is trying to operate. I will do my best to let my daughters grow up with personal freedoms but not end up like the Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan types. I will teach them that it isn't the color of someones skin that defines who they are. I will teach them that counting on someone/something else isn't the answer to their problems. You know, this is more of a, "Hey, let's go have some coffee and talk" kind of question?

Circumstances beyond my control has left me a single parent. Strong emphasis on marriage and two parent homes have always been a priority.

Otherwise:
I have raised the children to love and respect themselves as well as others.
To be honest and compassionate even through the worst of situations.
To stand tall and be accountable for their actions and behavior.
To follow the Religious choice of their heart and not to criticize others for their choices. There is only ONE CREATOR.
To become educated in the area of life that makes them the most happy.
It is OK to stand and fight for your family and country.
Financial abundance does not create happiness.
To explore the world with an opened heart.
To seek the beauty in every moment of each day.
To embrace death, as it is our Greatest Next Step in our existence here on earth.

These are the family values I was raised to know.

As far as political opinions:
We research and explore as much back ground information as possible on those running for office. Prior to casting our votes at each election. There are no Political Parties in our discussions. We seek honesty and integrity in those we vote for.

What about a family crest if you share a surname? They can be adapted to look pretty stunning and if you're thinking of something in another language there are alot of free online dictionarys but make sure you double check as you don't want to end up with something ridiculous on you! Speak to a good tattooist in your area and they should be able to help you come up with something :)

I think family values are that when a father and mother are involved in the upbringing of there children in a loving and active environment. Some may choose organized religion, some may not, but, right and wrong standards of living and the treating your fellow man are essential

Every family has things that they consider important to them and that differs due to the varying cultures of our world.

Family values to me means that I treat everyone with respect and teach my kids to do the same. To have a strong faith that I can turn to and to help me make the right decisions based on ethics and morals. That when I make decisions it is with my kids future in mind not just my current desires. I want to teach my kids the importance of honesty, integrity, hard-work, respect, humility and pride in themselves.
