It didn't matter.
They would be wiped out anyway. With the development and deployment of heavy tank destroyers like ISU-152, it was over for the Deutsche Panzerwaffe.

One man from my hometown was a commander of ISU-152 in Hungary. His team destroyed 6 German tanks in one battle, the last one by ramming (out of ammo). The man was awarded with 3 Orders of Glory, a rare distinguishment.

It was a terrible mistake to finish the war after Stalingrad. It was a waste to commit their last strategic panzer reserves at Kursk. It was a terrible mistake to gamble the last reserves at the Battle of the Bulge. The Hungarian campaign was just another folly in the long list of follies committed by the Bohemian corporal....
