It's similar, though from a different point of view, as holding up "John 3:16" signs at baseball games or "Bush Lied, People Died" banners anywhere on Earth. Some truths are so deep and bright that they must needs be proclaimed anywhere and at any time, that all may know and be thus enlightened.
As I care nothing for football, however, I have to take your word that "Yankees Suck" chants occur.

And I was at a Diamondback-Red Sox's game in Phoenix and the fans from both teams were chanting Yankees suck...

I don't chant Yankees Suck anywhere, ecpecially at football games, sorry you must be looking for other Red Sox fans.

Because the number one team in Boston is the Red Sox, no matter what the Patriots, Celtics or anyone else does it is a baseball town and their number one enemy is??????? Understand, no matter if you are a Pats fan, Bruins fan or BC fan, everyone is a Sox fan so there is a lot of carryover.

because they do! from my expieriences, they do it at basketball or football games after they show the scores and the yankees are losing.
