Do what does it matter how indespensable you make yourself?

Sorry about the two typos.
To me this is pretty much saying everyone is dispensable. Everyone is gonna die and therefore you cannot be indispensable. The mere idea of indispensability is a myth.
Many people (2) obviously don't understand their words will often be what they are judged upon and will reduce their value to even less.

I true think that all people (men and women) are valued parts of the human race. Everyone dies, but it is a great loss to the planet every time!

It doesn't. We are all expendable. Life will go on without you. But it's still good to try and lead a worthwhile and productive life,if only for your own sake; it's more self-fulfilling because you're making the best use of your abilities and potential.
