im not a red sox fan but ill defend them here...... All Yankees fan are bandwagoners (a person who likes a team just b/c their winning or in the champoinship game and then insist on calling themselves fans of that team)
Yankees fans are bandwaongers in a way b/c since the Yankees win most of the time they have no reason to not be fans as soon as the Yankees lose Yanks fans turn their backs on them so fast its ridiculous Cubs fans and Sox fans are some of the most loyal fans out there......

Sorry, in my case I started rooting for the Yankees in the early 70's when they stunk. They lost the world series in '81 and then they didn't even make the playoffs for another 15 years.

As far as the bandwagon phenomenon, it can apply to any team. Don't tell me that there aren't plenty of Sox fans who "weren't really into baseball" until 2004 or so. And then all of a sudden there were all of these people walking around in Johnny Damon shirts (not talking so much about Boston in particular here, just this "red sox nation" phenomenon).

In 2001, all of the sudden Arizona noticed that the Diamondbacks existed. A lot of Cowboys fans started watching football when they were winning those superbowls in the early 90's.

Many Mets fans earliest baseball memories are of Keith Hernandez and Gary Carter winning the world series.

All Yankees fans are bandwagoners? You really have no clue on what you are talking about. I'm a Yankees fan and I'm far from a bandwagoner, I'm from the Bronx, I still reside in the Bronx and the Yankees play in the Bronx so that does not make me a bandwagoner.

Also you said that when the Yankees lose fans turn their backs on them? That is far from the truth, the Yankees were under .500 for much of the first half of the season and Yankee Stadium was still selling out so you're arguement is pretty weak.

What makes Cubs and Sox fans more loyal then Yankees fans? I don't understand that one.

I'm a Yankee fan since the early 50's. My neighbor was Joe Collins, first baseman. I've been to many, many games and met a lot of the players. I used to sit in the first row behind the right field fence (344 ft mark before renovation) and talk to Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle between innings when I was a teen.

I am not knocking anybody else for being loyal to their team, but I've witnessed some great moments and cherish the memories I've had as a Yankee fan. And I applaud those Red Sox fans for hanging with their team, even though they only have 1 championship to show for it. And, you Cubs fans, what can I say...????

You obviously don't know Yankee Fans.
Ive been a Yankee fan since 1961 through the good times and thru the bad. I am not a Bandwagoner whatever the hell that is. When youre older little boy you'll understand it all.

Please. Most Red Sox fans before 2004 were like "aww yeah oh well they're not gonna win". And then came the band wagon.

The Yankees are a great team with a great history and a great roster.

I'm a Yankees fan, and that's probably true some of the time. Not dissing the Yanks or their fans (which, again, include me), but it's true.
