even though im sure some people who live in vegas and dont visit the casinos, most people find a good way to visit them:
put all the money you can spend on the day you visit the casino in one pocket and leave all the credit cards, house and car keys and everything else you own that you might loose...
this way in a worst case possibility you'll get home naked and a couple of dollars short but you had a nice evening :D

I have a feeling it would get really old after a while. Gambling is pretty fun and while I live near several Indian gaming casinos, I rarely visit any of them.

Most people who live in Vegas lead utterly normal lives. You've never been to a residential section. And yes, they do manage to avoid addiction to gambling. In fact, they seem immune to it.

I'm not even a gambling addict, but I know I'd just blow through money in Vegas.

Absolutely. One has to work and pay bills. Gambling is a fun thing when I can afford it.
