I have a wireless network set up in my home and it keeps crapping out, but only on one of the 4 computers connected, what's wrong? The spped and signal strength are as strong as possible, but the connection still breaks, usually every couple minutes. The microwave breaks the connection, but the connection breaks even when the microwave is off. This problem has only started occuring in the last 2 months. Do I need a new wireless card for my PC? I have tried rebooting the modem and router, but that has neither helped nor hindered the performance of the internet on the computer. By the way, this computer is closer to the router than any other computer in my house so that makes the connection issues that much more baffling to me. Please help.

the envoirnment may not be suitable to your PC.

Try putting the same pc on other computers location........

the difference may that the live wire (concelled in the wall) may be genrating magnetic field breaking the signals.
you may also may not have ELCB installed..... sometimes due to moisture, some light current leak may also result in excess flow of current.....
further, if seapage is there, it may also result in weekening of signals.

Distance may not be the only issue. Wireless uses unlicensed radio and is blocked by masonry, metal (e.g. ducts and silver backed mirrors) and other things.

Put 2 laptops side by side and see if the one that is now problematic the only one that is problematic. If so then you have a strong case that the one notebook has a problem. Check the config to make sure it is accurate and if the problem remains, the wireless card is probably fault.

If you see both problematic when side by side then the problem is likely the location.

Be sure to determine if the root cause is location before you change equipment out - because if it is location it will NOT help to change the wireless card if location is the problem.

If location is the problem, see if you can move the Wireless Access Point to service all units better.
