Not wanting to be disrespectful of Mr. Snow's serious situation ... will probably get slammed ... But the question still stands.

Tony has a good salary, maybe he's in the top 5-6-7% of wage earners. Still he claims he is stepping down because he is running out of money.

What about us millions who earn less? ... we can't go out and pick up a lucrative gig on the speaking circuit if we get seriously ill? How will healthcare fail us?

That's an excellent question. I shudder to think of the many who can't afford proper treatment if they get a life-threatening illness like cancer. In the movie "Sicko", Michael Moore features a woman whose husband died after he was unable to get a life-saving bone marrow transplant to treat his kidney cancer, because their insurance company deemed the surgery "experimental".

My mom had cancer and we did fine, and we are anything but rich.

Tony Snow could afford the best treatment so he spent his own money for it.

My mom got great treatment and it was thanks to the insurance she had and government help. My mom was making a full recovery when she passed away from a stroke.

there are always ways to get treatment. Tony Snow could afford private hospitals and the best of the best. My mom got great treatment at a local hospital form a well respected and established Specialist.

That's just the way it is.

Just because not every one can afford silver plated bed pans, does not mean everyone who is not rich is being left out in the cold.

Agreed. Making lots of money seems to be the only "ethical" standard of this administration.

And it is another case of Republican financial mismanagement and misbudgeting. He was making more money when he chose to serve the Bush admin and he knew what the salary would be when he joined.

He has White House healthcare coverage too. unlike too many americans.. who have none.

Also says a lot about "real loyalty" in the Bush administration as well as the Fox news team... if money trumps duty to country.

Realize Tony Snow took a pay cut to take that job as well. As far as his cancer is concerned, he might be stepping down because in spite of the treatments having to stand up and defend Bush on a daily basis is probably taking a major toll on his health. He's been spokesman fora little more than 2 years and he looks about 20 years older. Steppin down is as much about the job as it is about the cancer.

Personally, I think he's giving up due to his cancer, not for financial reasons. He probably doesn't want people pitying him or having that be the first thing they think about when they see him. He's battled this cancer before and it has come back. I hate to say this but he really doesn't look well and probably can't stand up to the rigors of this job.

be mad at the frivilous lawsuits increasing insurance costs for healthcare workers... or the big pharmaceutical companies that don't really care about the health of people they claim to wanna help... i understand they need to make money.. but, when generic prescriptions cost a fraction sometimes of what the others cost... something's wrong.

He did not run out of money. He just wants to make more. I listened to his radio show, and he made mention that taking the job would be a serious pay cut. Obviously, he got tired of the pay cut.

I don't know about Mr.Snow, but I am in debt for a little over 35 grand because of an illness earlier this year, and this after my life savings have been spent on this.

There has to be some middle ground on health care in this country.Too many people are being left destitute.

So, let me get this straight. Because he has the means to make more money and is choosing to do that, he is wrong? Why should the government have to pay for your healthcare? You have the same opportunity as Tony Snow does to move up in the world.

He has money, it's just an excuse to leave the sinking ship that is Bush's Whitehouse. Just look at all the rats that are leaving.
