I'd go with the idea of a republic as long as that prick b liar and his cronies don't get anywhere close to chancellorship.

Nobody is asking you to obsess about Diana. The Princess was obviously much-loved and there's eff all YOU can do to change it - this is a totally PERSONAL thing.
The Monarchy also brings MILLIONS into this country - and the Queen and old Cherlie pay their taxes too. It's not the Royals you want to worry about spending your taxes (you must be mega-bloody-rich). Look no further than the dole queues, illegal immigrants, asylum seekers and just recently, a few thousand LEGAL immigrants.
EDIT: Clive H: Princess Margaret was born in SCOTLAND. Prince Charles was born in ENGLAND. That makes the TWO of them BRITISH.
Clive - Forgot to add, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother was one of those "natives" you mentioned. She was born the Hon Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon - basically a "commoner" just like Diana and Tony Armstrong-Jones (whose ancestry is Welsh and German Jewish).

This answer comes from a person born and raised here in the U.S.
I don't understand HOW you tolerate the elitist Royals.
It is a mandated classist society and if you are a "Commoner" you are by societal standards, a second class citizen!
How do you tolerate that?
After gaining equal rights for all, you MUST institute a Republic to give stability to the nation.
There are NO functional democracies in the world. A nation needs stable LAWS. Democratically elected Representatives are a necessity for proper representation.
Pure Democracy CAN'T work because then the best salesman, capable of drumming up support through emotional reaction, rather than logical thought, will control the Nation!
The once Great Britain has become a Socialist/Marxist state and that leads to tyranny and lack of productivity.
Eliminate high taxed, because taking money from the poor and shifting it to those ruling the nation just takes money out of the hands of the citizens and allows a dictator to direct its use...whether you like that use or NOT.
Money is POWER, keep some for yourself. Never elect someone who, through specious arguments, tries to convince you that you need to give him MORE power. That individual is a tyrant!
I just wish the citizens of the U.S.A.would learn that lesson.

The Royal family are desperate to hang on to their lifestyle of privilege and power. To this end they have seen fit over the last two generations to allow leading members of their family to marry with the local natives for the very first time in their history.
Princess Margaret [German] marries Tony Armstrong-Jones [Welsh].
Prince Charles [German] marries Diana [English Rose]

You should have stuck with the bit about Diana.
I can't understand how she did not know what she was getting into, perhaps she was blinded by the trappings accompanying the marriage. She certainly liked men with money.
would she still have been called Princess had she lived to convert to Islam or perhaps Diana the insurgent.?
Can't agree with anything else you say.

Oh shut up.
No its not "time" for a Republic. Don't like the Royals? Emigrate!
UP with the Royals! God Save the Queen! God Bless the Prince of Wales!
BTW if you want to see the REAL people who "live on your taxes" check out the dole queue at the DSS offices - or your local asylum seekers' centre.
Clive - how the HELL do you figure that Princess Margaret and Prince Charles are "German"? Their German ancestry is way way back in their line, nearly 200 years ago, they and their parents, grandparents, great grandparents etc etc were British. You're an idiot to suggest that makes them German!!
You and other "Republicans" can stick your so-called "Republic" where the sun doesn't shine, thanks. I don't want to live under a dictator like Bush. Move to America if thats what you want.

I'd rather stick with the inbreds that we have at the moment than have a power-crazed political animal as our head of state.
