Dan has already achieved critical acclaim away from the Harry Potter role in the West End stage production of "Equus", which I saw twice at the Gielgud Theatre in London ("Equus" is coming to Broadway in spring of 2008), as well as the Warner Brothers release next week of "December Boys", the independent film Dan made in Australia in 2005.
Dan is beginning his U.S. promotional tour for "December Boys" the first week in September and will be interviewed on quite a few TV shows, including Jay Leno on September 6th. "December Boys" is already winning film awards even before its official release.
Also, Dan just finished filming a made-for-TV movie, "My Boy Jack", in Dublin; the true story of Rudyard Kipling's son, Jack, who fought and was killed in WWI. It will be shown in the U.S. on PBS' "Masterpiece Theater" on Veteran's Day, November 11th. He is already receiving critical acclaim for his portrayal of Jack Kipling.
So, Dan has already gone way beyond the Harry Potter role in terms of a serious professional acting career. He is well on the road to becoming one of Britain's top adult dramatic actors.

No. He is extremely savvy for such a young actor. Doing the 'Harry Potter' films, he's taken full advantage of working with the finest actors in Britain, and used that to catapult into stage acting (he co-starred with Richard Griffiths in 'Equus,' plus he also had a cameo in a play Kenneth Branaugh directed). In addition, he's in the upcoming film 'December Boys,' playing another role very different from Harry.

I know that some actors get typecast, but I don't think that's going to be the case with Radcliffe. He's intelligent, already filming another movie, and has handled it with the awareness that he's got to prove himself. From what I've heard he's very professional and committed to his projects, which I believe would be the first step towards being taken seriously as an actor in more mature roles.
Oops almost forgot...he's got stage experience as well (plays). You can't stink and do live performance with good reviews!!!

He was just a child when he started the Harry Potter movies. He has tons of good years ahead of him and his appearance will change as he ages and matures. He is a great actor, there are tons of movies in his future (I hope)!

I hope it doesn't affect future jobs, I think he is a good actor and would be curious to see him in other roles.
