Sounds crazy, but NON alcoholic beer does wonders. I was told about this by a lactation consultant, so I tried it and it worked for all three of my babies. Good luck.

Steel cut oatmeal seemed to help with me.

But when I was getting set to go on mat leave, my replacement had some lactation advice for me and a gift. Two packages of red bean paste (available at asian food stores)! Apparently that's one of three things used in Chinese society to 'make your milk come in,' she explained. This was the more appealing of them. The others were fish stew ... it was a particular fish. Trout? The recipe didn't sound appealing. Fermented rice was the third. Basically, high protien.

Oatmeal is said to help although I can't stand the texture. I'm taking Fenugreek and Mother's Milk Tea to boost up my supply. I stopped bfing when my son was 8 weeks because I had to return to work. I tried to keep my supply up but resorted to formula because of family pressure. Now, at 13 weeks, I'm working to build up my supply and these things have helped, as well as frequent pumping. I managed to get 1.5 oz with a manual pump during one session after not bfing for 5 weeks!

Actually making sure you drink enough fluids- espeically water is key. That and make sure you're eating full healthy meals, not skipping meals and that what you eat is good for you rather than burgers and fries. Sometimes some women have better luck with breastfeeding with others. I had a lot of trouble 'making' enough milk and had to wean off. This might be the case for you or the above might work as well. Good luck!

Oatmeal. Also, brewers yeast. You can buy it at health food stores and add it to oatmeal or yogurt, or bake it in cookies. Here is a wonderful recipe for Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies that are tasty and I saw an increase in my supply as I ate them.

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
4 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons flax seed meal
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups oats
1 cup chocolate chips
2-4 tablespoons brewer's yeast

Preheat oven to 350°.
Mix the flaxseed meal and water and let sit for 3-5 minutes.
Beat butter, sugar, and brown sugar well.
Add eggs and mix well.
Add flaxseed mix and vanilla, beat well.
Sift together flour, brewers yeast, baking soda, and salt.
Add dry ingredients to butter mix.
Stir in oats and chips.
Scoop onto baking sheet.
Bake for 12 minutes.
Let set for a couple minutes then remove from tray.

Any and all foods hich in Calcium, Iron and vitamin C & D. The trick is to drink plenty of fluids and have skin to skin contact with your baby. Also pump often if you are unable to nurse.
