The government is presently blaming Iran for its worries in Iraq and Afghanistan. The drumbeat is getting louder. After two pre-emptive attacks on sovereign countries with flimsy casus belli, we can;t doubt the administration is willing to attack a civilian center in Iran. How will you stop your government and what are you willing to do if the attack does occur? Would you join public protests, a general strike, would you boycott shopping and air travel? What would you be willing to do to protests our own Cambodia (look into the protests that followed War with Cambodia)?

Well, the General Strike on 9/11/07 is going to take place soon, although probably it will be just a minor strike, two big demonstrations (New York and Washington DC) and several minor demonstrations in other cities. For sure, this one day won't change much, but I think the preparation for it has served to focus the attention of many and to gather forces. And there are a lot of further events planned for this month, so this could be just the beginning.

Some feel this is already a movement, like the one which put an end to the war in Vietnam, or like the ones which conquered the rights for women / blacks / workers. Even if it is not enough for getting out of Iraq in the short term, it could very well serve to stay out of Iran.

Washginton Irving, seriously, honestly what's up with this:

"After two pre-emptive attacks on sovereign countries with flimsy casus belli, we can;t doubt the administration is willing to attack a civilian center in Iran."

Many liberals agreed with the actions in Afghanistan, few people think that was a mistake. And you're 'evidence' doesn't suggest they want to attack a 'civilian center in Iran'. If there were going to be any attacks against Iran, I guarantee they would be directed towards military, government or nuclear facilities.

Why would you want to protest military action against Iran? I'm not terribly in favor of war, but if it came down to it, would you want to be on Iran's side before the US? Where is the logic in that thinking?

The government won't make a bad decision to pre-emptively attack Iran without evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. As much as protesting is a waste of time, when taken to an extreme it gets results. It did in the Vietnam era, and the government is not willing to cause that much civil unrest again.

They can't. The military reality is that we don't have the troops for a third war. We pissed away our advantage in Afghanistan to fight Iraq. Where will we get the troops to fight in Iran or even N. Korea.

What Will I Do? Probably nothing. I keep voting Democrat. I seem to be wasting my vote. I'll probably withdraw from the farce of public elections. Why give this crap the aura of legitimacy?

You might think voting dem, but thats never stopped us from going to war (Kosovo, Somalia, WWII, or the no fly zones and the constant presence in the Persian Gulf because, guess what Saddam was a bad guy right up until his death).

I will not stop the US government if it attacks Iran. I think all of the nations of the UN should participate in using force on Iran to stop it's nuclear weapons program.

I don't agree with your comments, opinions, or your rewriting of history.

You cannot.

If the government decides it is going to attack Iran then it will, even if thousands of people are protesting in the streets of Washington, D. C.

The only thing we can do in the *highly* unlikely event that such an even happens is make them realize it was a Very Bad Idea and that they should change their mind.

Look, Irve, if they are supplying Iraq and Pakistan with weapons and terrorists to murder our people, then by all means we need to put an end to it.

This isn't 1968 and Iran isn't Cambodia. Woodstock was a great time for you people but that was 40 years ago. Time to move on.

Do you mean the Iran that held our Hostages in 1980,that supported the Ayatollah, that refused inspectors to check out their nuclear weapons process, that hides terrorists and undermines Middle East Support? Oh sorry, you must mean the OTHER Iran.

No, Abdullah, we will support our government. Of course if you get rid of your little banty rooster and get some decent leadership, abandon your nuclear weapons program and stop supporting the insurgents, we might back off and not spank you. Otherwise, DUCK!

Why stop them? I hope we do it because any country that openly says they want to wipe an entire race and country off the face of the Earth is dangerous and could use a good *** kicking. My only hope is that we go over to fight a real war and not this PC crap we are currently doing where we don't actually fight with everything we have because it could offend someone.
