Flies are really bad this summer in our town and everytime I open my door one flies in! How can I stop them from doing that? The sticky paper is worthless, any other ideas?

The fan thing really works. Place a box fan near the door so it blows air outside. The flies resist flying into the wind. Mant commercial buildings that have entry doors have fly fans mounted in the ceiling to prevent flies from entering the store.

Before you open the door turn a fan on the high setting blowing out the door so the flies can't fly in.

well... i find that the traps aren't useless. if you use one near your door, and one in your kitchen, then the flies should be a problem no more!!!

also there is option two, which is, get a second door. you use the same doorway, but have two doors, at the entrance. It works like an airlock, the flies usually only get past one of the doors, but not the other.

You can buy long colorful streamers to hang over your door . most hardware stores sell these. You can leave your door open and they don´t come in as the streamers move with the breeze. Also hanging baskets with mint are a good deterrent for flies

That's a tough one, especially in the fall.

The fly sticky streamer works pretty good for me, and going in and out as fast as possible, while kind of waving a hand in the opening.

Long ago, my mom used to frantically wave a dish towel as we came in and out, and now I know why!!!

I'd suggest the fan idea, too. There's a reason why Wal-Mart has huge blowers on the ceilings above their entrance doors. They may blow your hair to smithereens, but they sure do keep the bugs and too hot/too cold weather out.
