Ok, I will share it with you and I am so embarrased.
I work in a huge company with around 700 people all together.
I am not English so one of my work colleage (male) often asks me to translate for him messages he receives from his friend (girls), cause I speak the language. Today he gave me another text but the message there was dirty and with many sexual issues. I told him I was too embarrased to translate it but he insisted so I finally did in on a piece of paper and handed it to him. After he read it after few minutes he came back to me and apologised for it telling me he did not know what the text could have been about. I liked him so I said it was ok. After about half an hour ANOTHER colleage from the work came to me and said he had seen the text and asked if it was me who translated this. INSIDE I felt soooo low but kept cool. He said MANY people have read this and laughed at it. Am I to be blamed? I FEEL totally quilty. Many people know about it now. Why did he do it? Help!

You have no need to be ashamed, he has, the fact that the note went all around work is his shame and if the text really was from his girlfriend she would be mortified.

I tend to think that this pig has set you up largely because if he can't speak the language himself then how is he communicating with these girls, he's an idiot as are the other people.

The fact that you kept cool is great, don't let them know it bothered you, they will soon move onto the next person because that's how they get there kicks.

Hello Tulip,

Nope its not your fault so don't blame yourself.

This man is obviously making a fool of himself and the person who wrote the message to him.

He obviously has no morals or feelings for the composer of the message. I know if I had received a message with strong sexual overtones I would not want the world to know about it or read it.

Just look at what he did as a learning curve and if he asks you to translate anything else for him in future, politely but firmly refuse. Even if the message does not contain any embarrassing text.

It's not your fault and NOT your responsibility for the message or the meanings.

I should be ...'cautious' about doing any translating in such similar circumstances as you never know whether the person in need of translation is 'setting you up to be embarrassed through offencive / suggestive messages.'

Take Care.
Sash.

Hi, totally ignore this bloke if he hasn't the intelligence or courtesy to learn the language of the person who's texting him then he does not deserve to have such a nice kind person like yourself to translate for him. Just walk away and ignore people like this no sense no feelings I am afraid, chin up girl keep smiling, Tess

This guy sounds like he's playing you for a fool. Stop translating letters for him. Tell him nicely but firmly that you feel uncomfortable doing this and that maybe he should start learning the language that these people are writing him.

You have absolutely nothing to feel guilty about. All you did was translate. Go into work with your head held high and tell this man to find another translator!

He should not have shared that message with others when they knew you were the one who had to have translated it. Talk to him and tell him how you feel about the issue, and perhaps let him know you aren't available for any more translation. He disrespected you.

Nothing for you to feel guilty about. You did tell him you were not comfortable and he asked you to do it anyway. It was very kind of you to do that despite your discomfort. Why he did it had nothing to do with you. The message was from someone else, you just translated it.

Oh it is not your fault or anything. You have nothing to be embarrassed about! They are probably laughing at the person who wrote it or at that guy, not you. You didnt write it or anything. Just relax and don't care about them. Focus on your work. They'll forget about it anyway, whatever it is that they are laughing about.
