Either. The El runs from both airports to downtown. O'Hare is a bigger airport, but it also means you may get delayed. Midway is a craphole, but their flights seems to arrive on time a little better.

Midway is slightly closer to downtown. I prefer flying from Midway even though it's farther from my house because it's smaller, the Orange line train is usually less crowded than the Blue and I've had any problems (flights cancelled, etc) there. I've had terrible experiences at O'Hare and everyone has a horror story about their own experience there. It's usually a little cheaper to fly into Midway, as well, depending on where you're coming from. I usually fly Southwest (super cheap & highly recommended), and they only fly into/out of Midway.

You buy your air ticket at the airport before the plane will take you there to Chicago. Chicago trains that go to two airports. That's "Trains To The Planes."
After your flight to Chicago:
1.) You get off at O'Hare or Midway.
2.) Go and catch Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) trains (including Orange Line or Blue Line) here at O'Hare International Airport or Midway Airport.
One of two trains will take you to downtown when you're heading to one of hotels.
Check out Chicago Transit Authority's official website at
http://www.transitchicago.com
for more infomation about schedules, fares and much more.

if you have the option, go with Midway, esp if you're taking public transit. The Orange line is currently running better than the Blue Line, esp on the weekends. If you're thinking about a cab, I don't think there's much difference in terms of cost from either one (this is the fare list from one cab company, but the rates are pretty much the same across companies. Also might be a little off, depending on when updated: http://www.chicagocarriagecab.com/rates.asp). Also check with airport shuttles--from O'Hare, you go down the Kennedy (I-94?) which can be backed up (http://www.chicagoairportshuttles.com/)

Midway is smaller (which means less congestion) and a little closer but it really doens't make a difference as far as which is closer. Both are services by public transportation (subway trains) that can get you to and from downtown Chicago. From there, it's either a short cab or bus ride to Michigan ave.

Midway is a little closer to downtown. Both airports have trains that you can take downtown. The blue line runs from O'Hare to downtown and the orange line runs from Midway to downtown. Both are very easy to use.

Really doesnt matter, but if you're going to be downtown just hit up Ohare to catch your flight out. Depending on who you're flying with you go where that carrier leaves out of. I've flown out of Midway and Ohare and that's because the carrier at the time I used flew out of one of those airports.

All the above are not accurate. When yo buy a ticket on a flight, certain Airlines go into O'Hare and others go into Midway. You have NO choice. The main carrier at Midway is Southwest and I'll guarantee you there are NO Southwest flights into O'Hare. O'Hare's main carrier is United however 31 other carriers use O'Hare also
