im just wondering how long it will take to drive that route straight overland through the former yugoslavia.

If just for leisure, what are the sights in which i can visit??

Take a map, each town you see on the way is a likely stop for sights, as well as many mountain passes, stretches along the coast and most villages.
On a trip this long you can use many slightly different routes too, if you drive 40+ hours, a few more hours to see that one town does not make that much difference.
So it is impossible to point out the best sight.
A quick look at a map show at least 20 mayor towns, each worth a day at least, and as many places that are likely to be great in natural beauty.
I think that you will travel 10 to 15 countries, (depending on whether you try to get as many or as few as possible.)

Buy, or borrow from the library, a good guidebook or two.
I like the Lonely Planet series, but I guess that you need more than one edition to cover the whole area.
You can also use google and a map, just to see all about the towns you will see underway.

I think it's closer to 45 or 50 hours driving which would mean upto 4 days driving if you do 12 hours per day.
As stops en route the places I would recommend include: Pau, Toulouse, Nice, Verona & Ljubljana.
You can view my virtual tours of all these places and more at:

Drive carefully and enjoy the trip.

Over 41 hours of solid driving, not including the breaks you need to take.
