I love it!! Such a pretty name. Nothing but good things come to mind when I hear it. I actually have a Dutch friend with that name: "Elyse Taal". Its going to be tough to find a middle name for her, but I would go for it!!!

Someone said this is an old lady ish name but those names are becoming popular again. I say go for it. My friends named their daughters Hannah and Audrey.
The meaning of the name Elyse is that it is a form of Elisa which means God Is My Oath. The name Elyse is of American Origin. Spelled Elise is of French Origin.

That's exactly how I spell my middle name! I love it. I almost wish it was my first name instead. It means "blissful."

My favorite spelling variation is Elysse, but it sounds the same (and beautiful) either way.

Not prudish at all. Maybe that's because I'm not prudish, but I think prudish names are old lady names like Edna or Joan.

It's a pretty name, but just a warning, my daughter has a friend Elyse and people are constantly mispronouncing her name.

I like it, and do not think it is prudish, but I DO consider it more of a middle name.

Good luck.

There is a band called "The Cure" and they have a song called letters to elise. My friends named their daughter after it and she is a beautiful princess. Elise are usually pretty popular and sociable is what I've read.

I think it is a beautiful name. The way it is spelt it kinda looks like E-lice but that was my first look at it. I once knew a girl with that name but it was spelt Elise. I normally like the y but that was my first impression.

It's a nice old fashioned name. There are several women in my family with different spellings of the name, so I may be biased towards it. :-)

I had a student that has that name and spells it that way also. I like the name and the student is bright and cheerful.
