Atheists swear on themselves since they do not believe in the bible or any other holy book for that matter.

Alot of people have refused to swear on the bible, even non-athiests... usually they end up in jail for it.

They do what is called aver. which is simply an undertaking to tell the truth. Better in some respects as they probably mean it whilst Christians can lie through their teeth and ask forgiveness later!!!!

Maybe they use an encyclopaedia, that will cover everything. truthfully I dont know I have never been to court. I suppose watching judge judy doesnt count does it.
