I have over 1000 DVD's. I thought joining Netflix would curb my impulse DVD buying, but so far it really hasn't. Anyone else have this problem?

I'm guilty of compulsive DVD purchasing (as well as PlayStation games).
Renting just doesn't fill that need like purchasing does.

Maybe we should start a DVD buyers anonymous club...

I used to have a large DVD collection, but then I moved and packing them up and unpacking them was a hassle and then I realized that I didn't watch half of them, tons were still in the plastic, and I loaned Office Space to someone who kept it for 6 months and I actually forgot I owned it and was planning on buying it when someone (not the lendee) gave it back.

So that's when I went through and sold most of them to a bookstore - I made good money too.

Storage issues and Netflix have eliminated the need to buy movies.

Yeah I had the same thought, maybe if I get netflix I won't have to buy everything I like because I can just throw something at the top of my list and get it in a day or so. Unfortunatly for me it didnt work, still hasn't. I tend to be too impulsive and when I get the inkling to watch something, I want to watch it now! ;p

I am guilty also! I have at least 1000 easy. I stopped counting at 750 and that was 6 months ago. The problem is, I only watch them once and then they go into the case.

I do...and Wal-Mart is just feeding my impulse buying by having the $5.00 bin set up in the middle of the store.

I don't have near 1000 yet, but I'm getting close.

some desktops have an in-outfitted DVD ripper - particularly in many situations put in in a media participant (i.e. homestead windows Media participant) or comparable. those will rip your DVDs onto your computor. you could then use the added functionality 'burn', by burning those ripped data onto a CD. that's basically like copying a song CD: You rip the song onto your comp ----> then burn it onto a disc!
