I can remember stuff I did 10 years ago, recite lines from television shows, but when I go to read something I can't remember what I read. Just wondered if anyone else experiences this?

What meant was I can read something and then 10 minutes later I can't explain or remember what I read about.

Yeah. It's sort of easy to explain
Ten years ago the television had your full attention during those times that you remember the lines. Most likely they are lines that for some reason could stick with you rather easily. For me, Usually this is something comedic
The stuff your reading is probably not making much of an impact or your attention is diverted to something else.

Yes, I still have problems. And the hang time after clicking a question is ridiculously long. At the bottom of the page there is a link for feedback. I used that yesterday but who knows.... It's frustrating enough people that apparently only the trolls want to frequent this place anymore.

Long term and short term memory is subject to personal experience. If an event has really affected you in some way you are more likely to remember it for a long time.

your brain subconsciously tells itself what is extremely important information (something you will need to remember later) and what is not really important. something i would ask myself is "is what i'm reading something that is really relevant to my life"? is it going to matter 10 years from now? not that you necessarily need to stop reading, but maybe not worry about remembering it.
