A pelvic exanination is quite like a pap smear actually it is the same thing. They will take a speculm and warm it first. They will insert it into the vagina slowley. They will take a small popsickle type stick insert it into the vagina which a person would not feel and they would take a sample of the film {basically cells} on the cervix. This takes a matter of 1-3 minutes depending on what else they may want to do. Sometimes along with the procedure they will also do a rectal exam feeling under the vagina and feeling the anal wall for any lumps. The rectal exam is not done as much as the pelvic exam. If you go to youtube and type in pelvic exam they will show you. I am a Medical assistant and was trained in these procedures. I hope this has helped you. Have a great day.

It is also called a "pap-smear." A doctor, preferably a Gynecologist (female part Dr.) performs this test at least once annually on every female. You do into the exam room and undress completely and put on a paper gown that opens in the front. The Dr and assistant come in. You lay down and he/she use a long q-tip and swab your cervix quickly. This q-tip is sent to a lab where it is examed to see if your cervix is carrying "pre-cancerous cells." The Dr will also use there fingers quickly and go into your vagina and exam both ovaries. A thorough Dr will also do a breast exam looking for breast lumps. The whole thing about 7-10 minutes. This is also the time to ask about female questions and birth control. It can be alittle scary the first time. Take your Mom into the room with you if you want the first time. After a few years, going is important, but just becomes part of a girl's life. GOOD LUCK!

A doctor will have the patient up in stirrups, will examine the external genitals, do a manual exam with two fingers deep into the vagina with the other hand pressing on the lower abdomen to feel for anything abnormal, often combined with an exam of the cervix by using a speculum and light in the vagina, and often doing a PAP test at this time.

A pelvic exam is where the doctor visually checks your vagina and then inserts a couple of gloved fingers into your vagina while he presses on your stomach with his free hand to check your ovaries. If she is having a pap smear to that is where the docs scrapes a few of her cervix cells to put on a slide to send to the lab for testing.

It is a routine exam given to women prior to giving birth control, or just for checkups. The OB/GYN doctor feels the woman's uterus & ovaries, to see if they are in the proper place & not enlarged. He uses a speculum to open the vagina & inspect it, & uses a Q-tip to get a bit of cells from the cervix to put on a microscope plate to check for cervical cancer (called a "Pap smear"). He checks her breasts for lumps, and answers any questions she has.

it's a check that the doctor will do to collect cells to check for cancer, and also to make sure your organs all feel right. It's something every woman has done and nothing to be worried about.

It is where a doctor examines your private parts, looking for cervical cancer and other problems with your plumbing down there.
