I'm not criticizing Snow, and this has nothing to do with party, but he said he's leaving because he has to make more money... is his salary that low? Does anyone know how much he makes?
I'm actually a little shocked that someone with such an important job would leave because he has to make more money. I know he has cancer, and the federal medical package is actually pretty amazing, so I'm a little surprised he's giving it up for this reason.

If I was him I would have resigned when I learned I had cancer. Life is too short, and his job too stressful, to continue working when you can be home with family.
I highly doubt he has financial issues, he would get long term disability payments, health insurance and a pension plan (eventually).

According to the news, he makes $168,000/year as Press Secretary. Which, apparently, was a huge step down financially from his stint on FOX News. Three kids in college (and I'm sure those colleges are top notch and very expensive) seems to be the main reason why. He says he's writing a book, so he probably got a huge advance for that.

Usually those people have more than one home to maintain. One is in the DC area while the other is in their home state. That gets expensive. Also whatever he makes he doesn't think it is enough to cover his lifestyle. I can respect that. He may have costs like medical that he needs to focus on and the White House job just doesn't cover it well enough.
Often the more money or attention to family are polite excuses for saying I don't like what is going on here and I am getting out while the getting is good. We can't be sure which is true.
