Why do men age gracefully but women don't?

Men are always hot when they start going grey. However women take it harder. Why is this?

As men get older they are seen as having accumulated wealth & a higher social status so age is a plus. Men never loose their fertility either.

Women are still valued for their youth & beauty - biological signs of the ability to reproduce.

Note: Only older successful men are considered hot. Older unsuccessful men are just old.

As science provides ways to fight the signs of aging - i.e. cosmetic surgery, better preventative care (sunscreen, Retin-A, anti-oxidants) - women are more able to maintain their looks. And as women become more successful in business, the arts, etc. they can emphasize their socio-economic status as their fertility wanes.

For both sexes, the idea of being fit as one gets older will become more important.

Society says men are hot when the start going Grey. Woman are expected to color their hair. Some woman do age gracefully, but the stresses of life, being a mom, working full time and housework on top of everything else. It's no wonder woman show more age than men. Statistics say most men go to the gym, play a sport or relieve stress by watching sports. Most woman do not have time for these. Some do go the gym, but still have all the ork to do after. Most men do not share in the responsibilities at home. Today men do help more than my father did in the past. But still, today's standards for aging are not fair for woman.

I think woman just find older men appealing, where men do not find gray hairs and wrinkles as being sexy. I think woman are actually harder on themselves than men. A lot of men like woman who are natural and don't wear makeup, however most woman feel that they need it.

I know plenty of women who look great after 50 however the ones you are speaking of is because women by nature put themselves last and don't take care of themselves. We are nurturers by nature and are always taking care of everyone else. Then one day the woman wakes up at 50 with an empty nest, a cheating husband and her looks are gone because she has put herself last. We young women have to remember to take care of us too. That doesn't mean not taking care of our families it just means making our health and beauty a priority.

women tend to fuss a bit more about their appearance. they wear all that makeup, and by the time theyre 50 they look a lot older than 50 yr old men.
