Your first one is right....T=2x+300

Reason is because $300 is a basic fee. SO no matter how many people attend, that basic rate of $300 does not change so you will have to add it in the equation.

$2 fee per person is multiplied to the variable x because x is the number of people that come, but you don't know how many people because the problem just gave you "x"
As an example.......if 5 people attended.....
T=2(5) + 300
T=10 + 300
T= 310
The total cost to rent the field for those 5 people is $310

Hi,

Based on the data in your question, we can get the information that the fee of $2 depends on the number of the person, so that:

If there is 1 person, the fee is $2,
If there are 2 persons, the fee is $2 * 2 = $4
If there are 3 persons, the fee is $2 * 3 = $6
If there are 12 persons, the fee is $2 * 12 = $24
If there are X persons, the fee is $2 * X = $2X

While, the fee of $300 can be considered as a Fixed cost.

Therefore, the answer to your question is:
T = 300 + 2x
or
T = 2x + 300 (A)

=======================
Answer: T = 2x + 300 (A)

Hope this helps.

Kind regard,
