Have you been drinking Lake Ontario water again? lol Sorry, I've been dying to use that line.
The Russians are still a powerhouse. I agree that they haven't been the same during the Cold War, but they are still better than the Swedes or the Finns.
And the Summit Series wasn't "designed" to give any country bragging rights. The USSR dominated international hockey for almost three decades (from the '50s to the '80s) by winning more gold medals than any other nation by a wide margin so it would be foolish for the communists to agree to such terms. The Super Series is supposed to "celebrate" the Summit Series, nothing more. It's just a marketing ploy to generate some money (and man, have they succeeded by getting it off hockey-starved fans). It's not even an official tournament; it's an exhibition. It doesn't mean anything, but, as you said before, bragging rights.

Tim is not that far off in saying the USA. They are producing better hockey players all the time. It used to be that because of our winters we, as Canadians got more exposure to hockey and therefore produced the best players. However the building of more artificial ice rinks in the US is seeing more kids playing hockey and with more pros staying in the US when they finish playing we are seeing an increase and improvement in their levels of coaching. It won't be long before the USA will be Canada's biggest rival in the development of quality hockey players and teams.

This series will be won here in Winnipeg, after the Canucks sweep them in Russia...the canadians had 4 men in the box 4 minutes into the game and we still won 6-2......there is no country that we should compete against in a 8 game series, maybe the Czechs, but thats about it.

The super series is a joke. Canada should easily walk away with an 8-0 series win. Its starting to get hard to watch, as We are just to dominating. I love too see us destroy like that, and will keep watching. i must say though, having played againsit Turris, and watching him now, he will end up being one hell of an NHLer.
ps. Russia is the 2nd best jr. team in the world

When it comes to junior hockey I don't think Canada has much competition. It's tough for kids who only play 40 or so games a year on school teams or whatever to compete with the CHL's best.

We'll see how you feel about that when Russia wins the next 3 games. Oh yeah, you'll be begging to play Sweden then. You know you're scared. Russia is the 2nd best, hands down. I don't care what anyone else says.

The one thing Canadians can brag about.
Jamie is right, USA Hockey is improving greatly, and will soon rival Canada.

Go Canada!!!!!!!!!
They shouldn't really have to play any other country. Not to sound ... cocky or anything but, I think we could beat a lot of the countries. Our young players demonstrate a great amount of passion and skill. They rock! I support them 100%!
