If we really lived in a Democracy Bush and Cheney would be the ones resigning for their war of aggression based on lies and their trampling on our Consitution and International Laws with extraordinary rendition & torture and warrantless wiretapping & spying.
What Craig did is a non issue except with bible toting fundamentalists.

I agree. The neo con fascists make me sick. The fact that we absolutely obliterated Iraq and for what? We have almost 4000 dead soldiers from Iraq alone and almost a million Iraqies dead as the result of this invasion and millions more who are now Iraqie war refugees in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iran. And, now Bush is threatening to go into Iran. What is there to win in Iraq when we lost the minute we crossed the border to invade it. The lesson learned here is never let little boys who control real amo, weapons and the military into a place where real men are mature enough to know that we shouldn't be there in the first place. The only positive thing that could come out of this is that America would finally grow up. But I have my doubts about that too.

The dead in Iraq hands down. what is more obscene is what I saw on the news the other day. Tom Delay stated that had had the senator been democrat the party would not punish him. He went on to say that in the Republican Party people are held responsible. I guess he forgot about Ted Stevens and David Vitter who have been caught breaking the law but nothing was done outside of news conferences and published statements. The Hypocrisy of Democracy

From what I hear on the tape, the man should have hired a lawyer and the cop who is interviewing him should be brought up on intimidation charges. Because we are innocent, we would tend to think we have nothing to hide and that it would go away if we just get it over with. Those of us who are not gay and wouldn't think of either hiring a prostitute or doing any other kind of lewd act would not know what the cop was talking about. We wouldn't know a signal from a hole in the ground. Additionally, I don't want my pants touching the filthy rest room floor so I, too, tend to spread my legs to hold my pants from touching the floor. Some of the stalls are so darned narrow that you can't move without touching the sides. Also, I've reached for toilet paper and inadvertantly touched the filthy side walls or bottom of the stall. I've also reached for toilet paper on the floor and have been so upset about it touching the floor at all that I fold it in wierd ways to ensure that part doesn't touch my body. Would that make me guilty of disorderly conduct? Well, it seems that nearly everything today is illegal except for prosecution of illegal immigrants and their illegal acts and the acts of those who hire, harbor and help them.
I don't get to vote for Craig, but I'll tell you that he should use this incident to point out the problems with the legal system. Many innocent people plead guilty to "minor" crimes like disorderly conduct because the alternative is so costly and time consuming. People who refuse to plead guilty are often given more strict punishment because they have the audacity to demand the rights that they are guaranteed in the Constitution of the USA and they have the audacity to take up the court's time with their innocent plea. What is it the cops tell people? "You might be innocent of this crime, but you've done plenty that you are guilty of so consider this pennance for those crimes." Yeah, I'll bet you all didn't know about this stuff did you? Want to know how I know about this? I advocate for people and I help them protect their rights. I go to court with young people and ensure that they don't get railroaded by the legal system. Any of you who have read my posts will realize that I am pro-law and order and that I want the laws of the land enforced. However, I don't give cops or lawyers or even judges a pass on law enforcement either. I've talked with States' attorneys and I'm appalled at what they'll go through to get a conviction and how little they'll do to ensure that the "right" person goes to jail. I would advise anyone who is arrested to refuse to say anything to the cops and get an attorney, period! Don't admit to anything and keep your mouth totally shut. Don't answer any questions. Let the cops threatened until hell freezes over. When you have been proven innocent, you can file charges against the cops and hold them accountable for their bad acts. Do you know how many people have been beaten by cops or starved by cops or found dead in their cells because they won't succumb to the illegal acts of police interrogations? The police are not to be trusted anymore than anyone else. They are people and have bad apples in their barrels too.
I don't know whether Craig is guilty or innocent but I believe that he should use this to effect change in the judicial system. I don't believe in plea bargaining because that is bribery purre and simple and it bribery by the legal system. If you can't be convicted by a jury of your peers and if they don't have enough evidence to convict you, why should you plead guilty? It's cost, of course, but it ensures that only the rich get off while the poor and disadvantaged get screwed.
Oh, and the Iraq war is wrong. I don't think any of our guys should die for Bush and his cronies and his illegal acts. I hope Bush is eventually tried for war crimes.

The funny one is the gay REPUBLICAN senator. The sad story is the 3737 wasted lives for a wasted cause which has shown ZERO results. To all the war supporters: we are at much higher risk of another terrorist attack than we were before. all because of Iraq.

i agree with Craig leaving office, but not due to being a "warmongering nutcase".. as you have so eloquently described him.... not sure how you think it's SO clear that we arent winning... if anything, it's people like you that inhibit us from progressing. you can try all you want.. but, we will prevail. as far as 3737 american dead in Iraq... do you realize how RIDICULOUS of a number that is?? you take any major conflict ever in the history of the world and you apply it in the timeframe since the invasion and the numbers wouldn't even come CLOSE. we've lost that many plus in several single battles.. i'm not belittling the loss of life.. just looking at it in common sense terms... i think you need to do the same. let me tell you about something i read a couple of days ago... the article reported that we currently have over 800 detainees under the age of TWELVE.. that's over 8 times what it was only a year ago. it goes on to say that this is due to groups like al-qaeda having an increasingly hard time recruiting. so, they've turned to their CHILDREN more than ever to carry out their cowardly acts... and this is due to several reasons..one of those is that because of the troop surge we are able to secure the border more closely, carry out more offensive attacks, and over the course of 5 years the insurgents have accumulated massive casualties... now, you tell me it's not working... the political strife within baghdad will subside.. we destroyed a country's infrastructure, took out their leader (as backwards as he was), and introduced a radical (in their eyes) way of life and governing... do you realize how long it took for OUR system to be set up in the beginning?? took waaaay longer than 5 years... we just need to be patient.
the argument i see that we are at risk for another terrorist attack due to us being in Iraq is just utter nonsense... do people even understand fundamentalist islam?? they want you DEAD irregardless of where you are. the fact that you EXSIST is offensive to them.. the quran teaches you one of 3 things as a follower of Islam when you are faced with "infadels"... 1) try to convert them... 2) rule them and tax them... 3) kill them... now which do you think will work for you better??? these people think that their god is angry at them for allowing the "sins" of the west to exist... and they are trying like hell to appease..
