i certainly understand rooting for your most fierce rival when it will benefit you in the end. But let's say the season is over, the bowl bids are locked up and there is nothing at this point to gain or lose by a Michigan win. You still would root for Michigan??? Woody is turning over in his grave as we speak :)

There are never going to be any circumstances that would make me root for that state up north. It's makes me heave just thinking about it!

I would say you always root for conference... and then if you live in L.A. near the jack@ss USC fans whom you hate just as much ... and Michigan and SC are playing in the Rose Bowl ..... then of course you do....

Also remember that if a team from your conference does well it improves the status of the conference...and also give the conference more money to spend on buying players... (if your in the Pac 10)....

You think going to Michigan is foul... try visiting the campus of USC.... talk about slum!

*edit - Added to answer your addition* The reason you would root for your conference after the bids are placed is due to the fact that the conference gets a share of the money pool... so all teams in the conference get some... also bragging rights for the conference... when they roll out the final conference Bowl standings you want to show the world that your conference is the best... so a good bowl record means in the future people will give it more weight...

Yes. Michigan is an outstanding college with a good football program, same as Ohio State (and Notre Dame, Texas, Southern Cal, Florida, etc., etc., etc).

Root for Michigan when they play Michigan State (sorry MSU fans)

There's always a reason. I root for OSU whenever they aren't playing Michigan. I want them to be undefeated going into that game. It adds value to the win in the polls and ruins a perfect season for OSU...Thats what you call a win win

HEY LOOK EVERYONE, AUSTIN Ns BACK TO ATTACK MICHIGAN AGAIN. HE MUST REALLY BE THREATENED BY THE WOLVERINES BECAUSE HE'S TAKEN A WHOLE WEEK OUT OF HIS LIFE TO ATTACK THEM.

If it were going to change Ohio States standings or ranking in a positive way or if Michigan winning were going to put Ohio State in position to play for a conference title, etc. then I think a die hard Ohio State fan could pull for them.

If you're a die hard Ohio State fan you NEVER root for Michigan, and if you're a die hard Michigan fan you NEVER root for Ohio State.

Do they get to watch football games in prison nowadays?

I would never cheer for osu to win a game because their retarded fans would be pleased. I'd rather deal with communism.

rooting for Blue can cause any sane individual mental health issues even under the best of circumstances; it is best to avoid the game completely and wait for the final score. MUCKFICHIGAN!!!
