No. During his first retirement from basketball, Jordan signed with the Chicago White Sox (coincidentally owned by the same man who owned the Bulls) and was assigned to AA Birmingham. Jordan's play at that level rather firmly established that he was not a major league-caliber talent.

One of the few good outcomes of the 1994-95 baseball strike is that, without September, there were no callups, which probably prevented us from seeing Jordan ramble about the Comiskey diamond for a few inept games.

Jordan abandoned his baseball "career" and went back to the courts.

No, Jordan had no shot to make the big leagues. He hit .202 for a AA team. If his name wasn't Michael Jordan and Jerry Reinsdorf wasn't trying to keep him happy, Jordan wouldn't have even been playing at AA. If Jordan had not come back to the NBA, he would not be the GOAT. He'd be one of those tantalizing "What if" questions that fans love to debate. I'm also not sure that the '94 strike had that much of an effect on Jordans career. The major league players went on strike, but minor league teams continued to play and practice. The only way the strike would have affected MJ would have been if he was in AAA and waiting to be called up to the majors.

No, he only played one season in the White Sox minor league farm system, and performed miserably - an embarrassment actually.

And he wore #45, in honor of his Dad. When he returned to basketball, he ditched his #23 and kept #45, but eventually returned to his senses when he was struggling on the court, too.
