Has anyone ever been asleep and woken up because you heard knocking? This happens to me alot.?

I will be asleep and wake up because I heard knocking (its normally three knocks) and when I check no one is there. What do you think it is?

That happened to me a few times, about three days in a row, I was just about to fall asleep, when I heard a sharp, loud knock from the other side of my wall. The weird thing was, that wall was facing outside, and I sleep on the second floor, yet the knock was almost at my head level! I looked out side, and no one was there.

In nearly all cases such as this, it is pipes.

In the house I grew up in, I could put my head to my bedroom wall and hear what sounded like a horse galloping. Some years later when I went in the attic I discovered something leaning on the pipe that caused the triple beats.

Another explanation is that you could be hearing your heart thumping due to a nightmare.

In my house it's the furniture reacting to the humidity. I have a dresser and chest of drawers that "snap" or "knock" during the night. An antique dealer at an auction told me they do that.

I have had that happen but just last night i woke up to hearing a doorbell, but no one was there.
It freaked me out so much, I couldn't go back to sleep

Next time it happens look at the time, after that if you get waken up again and its the same time there may be relavance there......Think about it.
