i believe that mystery snails along with other snails are
a-sexual meaning they are both male and female
and unless they salt water snails and determining on waht kind of salt your using will probably kill it and on how much you put in the water might kill what ever else is living in your tank

Mystery snails, more correctly known as Apple Snails are not hermaphroditic, which means that they are both male and female. Apple Snails are one of the few snails that are not hermaphroditic. But, that said, sexing an Apple Snail is still rather difficult. Males can be identified by looking for a penile sheath inside the shell. This houses the male reproductive organ. It can be much more difficult to distinguish in smaller snails. Because you will rarely be able to see the penile sheath inside the shell, if you hope to breed your Apple Snails, you need to choose at least 6 individuals, that way, the odds of buying both sexes is more likely. No, a low level salt content (1 tsp. per 20 gallons of water) won't hurt snails.

They are both male and female, but unless you happen to purchase one that's pre-inseminated you still need two to reproduce.
Aquarium salt is definitely not good for escargot.
