If we do not make a worldwide effort at getting the population under control,no more than a few generations. The Earths' population is growing exponentially. We have 6 billion now,in 40 years,12 billion, another generation,24 billion.Averting nuke war, pandemic, global warming, asteroid strike, mega volcano,(insert Armageddon of choice here_____)If NONE of those happen, how will all those people survive?Population is largely ignored, but realistically it is the biggest threat to man.The old riddle.."Would you rather me give you one million dollars?Or would you rather me give you one penny on the first day of the month, double the amount every day,for a month(1c.2c.4c.8c.etc.)calculate it.It is astonishing.Such is the population growth.

Keep calm and take it all in stride. It's really not as bad as it seems. I lived through the Reagan presidency when we were on the brink of nuclear war with Russia. We survived that.

Worrying about anything is just a waste of energy. If there is nothing that you as an individual can do about something then just let it go. Either accept the fact that those in authority will do the right thing or let God deal with it.

There are too many other things to worry about in life like getting your car fixed or running out of toothpaste.

Take time out to relax and enjoy the world around you. Appreciate the beauty of nature. Be thankful for today.

My best piece of advice is to stop watching tv news for a while. Death makes headlines because people seem more fascinated by it than a happy news story but there are many more happy stories that happen every day than bad ones. You can still get news from other sources and you can select what news stories you want to find out more about. You will find out that no matter what is happening elsewhere in the world, you still have your own life to live. You will grow old and die naturally just like your parents and grandparents and your children.

Don't let the media scare you.

Just because things will be DIFFERENT, does not mean they will be unliveable!

We are better off now than we were twenty years ago.

You obviously don't remember the Cold War. World War Three was really scarey. Islamo-fascists? punks.

Global warming? How about thermo-nuclear exchange?

3000 dead in a terror attack? How about millions in the World Wars?

Life is hard

Life will always be hard.

But life is better than the alternative!

Think about it.

But your question is moot.
Within a thousand years the only humans left will be zoological specimens caerd for by our AI decendents.
The rest of us will have uploaded into a giant virtual super brain.

The earth was not designed to hold this many people that are here now. I think the destruction of the race will be to the cause of ourself. I think someday, technology will be huge and we'd blow ourselves up by trying to do some crazy thing like creating nuclear fusion on earth meaning trying to reach temperatures of millions of degrees celcius. It might just blow up the entire planet, maybe Mars too. Then we'll become the second asteroid belt.

We've been surviving for 2 millions years so far. And every single generation has had people screaming that the world is coming to an end.....

It will survive a LONG time, until something we cannot control takes us out.

Hopefully for the sake of the rest of the world's species, not very long. At least not at our current population. By and large all it will require is one reasonably deadly pandemic. In the industrialized world food production is done by a very small percentage of the population, and those rely on a continuous supply of fuel. One good epidemic would probably destabilize the worlds economy so much that the network of technology and money we have built that serves us so well, would collapse. Given the disruption that a pandemic would cause, I don't think humpty dumpty could be put together again.

Hi. Either we will evolve (scientific thought), face Armageddon (religious thought), or become extinct so Nature can try something new. It matters not how soon.
