you die from natural or man-made causes because your body function terminated. your body is controlled by the brain, so by definition if your brain showed no sign of significant activity, you are medically dead. brain stop functioning for various reasons i.e physical damage, deprived of food/oxygen and some other rare causes. old people die from natural causes because their vital organs arent competent enough to keep the brain lives. this is mainly caused by loss of cellular regeneration as we age. so your heart not pumping enough, your liver cant process metabolic waste, your kidney cant filter blood efficiently anymore- all this results in damage to the brain, when significant enough, your brain and everything controlled shut down. people die in car accident because they lose blood and deprive the brain of food/oxygen. when you break your neck, you died if u damage the vital part of the brain that controls breathing otherwise you will get a complete paralysis.

Cell damage.
The human body like all mammals has a self repairing system based on its DNA.
There are genetic precursors that control growth and maturing, but as far as we now know, there is no "death clock" built in to the system.
So theoretically, we could live MUCH longer than we do now. The things that disrupts our body's natural defense system has to do with its complexity.
Think of how difficult it is to write a simple message on the blackboard at school numerous times such as :
"I will pay attention in biology."
"I will pay attention in biology."
"I will pay attention in biology."
"I will paytention in biology."
"I'll pay atention in blogy."
That seemingly simple task is at least a billion times a billion times less difficult than replacing all the cells in your body constantly everyday.
Eventually, some information gets lost or misinterpreted and the DNA gets fragmented. That's when aging occurs.
Physicist Michio Kaku has an excellent special produced for the BBC which you can find online about this subject.
Try these search terms: "BBC, horizon, Kaku, aging, immortality."
You should find it. That will give you a better understanding.
Obviously, man made causes can accelerate this process, especially when we use tools to chop people up, shoot bullets through them or blow them up with bombs. If you are talking about chemicals in the environment, well, yes, they can have an effect too. In a sense, certain caustic chemicals are just like bullets and bombs on the molecular level. They can literally blow holes in or cut or burn big chunks of DNA. Here again, that causes irreparable cell-damage., and damaged cells don't live support life functions well.

Reasons of nature.... why some creature die within 24 hours.... some like dogs 10 to 15ish years....... it all depends on how nature has set things out.
Humans need to rear and protect and teach their children for longer than some animals... that's part of it... and then communal group - working and forwarding society.

Our body is susceptible to ageing because of many factors like environmental pollution, work pressure and lifestyle habits of diet/exercise etc. All these accelerate ageing or alter some of the cells in our body so we will die one day.

On the most basic level, our cells stop self sustaining cycle chemical reactions cumulating with the cessation of all electrochemical activity in the brain. Alternately direct destruction of the brain can cause death while all other systems remain relatively unharmed.
This is due to lack of vital chemicals (usually oxygen) or introduction of chemicals that interfere with the chemical processes.
For example:
Leg eaten by shark = blood loss + shock = less hemoglobin to deliver oxygen to cells and difficulty regulating breathing, blood pressure = interruption of chemical processes = death.
Eating raw pork = introduction of botulism bacteria into body = bacteria using up nutrients & creating botulin toxin = botulin toxin paralyzing muscles = heart, lung muscles (diaphragm) paralyzed = blood unable to deliver oxygen to cells = interruption of chemical processes = death.
Starvation = lack of proteins and carbohydrates = lack of amino acids and sugars to sustain cellular chemical processes = death.
Riding on falling atomic bomb = being next to exploding atomic bomb = all chemicals constituting cells vaporized instantly by heat and ionic radiation = death.

We naturally accumulate damage to our cells and tissues as a result of our natural bodily processes. There's no avoiding that, but that doesn't mean we can't engineer ways to periodically repair this damage, thus keeping our bodies in a state of biological youth to indefinitely postpone diseases like Alzheimer's and heart disease. Here's a short summary that goes into more detail https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVbSQVuFd2k

Someone once told me that they think its because god has a plan for everyone. Before you're born, the theory is that you go to heaven's gate and god asks you:
what would you like to achieve during your time on earth? then we reply whatever our destiny is. When you've accomplished your goal, you die. For natural causes, maybe its because you die to help somebody else realize their destiny. Everything happens for a reason, and everyone involved in what is happening is doing it for a reason. lol well that was all pretty deep i think. i hope it makes sense.. anyways, that was fun :P. yesss, good one

Adam and Eve could have been alive today, but they died because they chose to disobey God and thus sinned. The reason we die is that Adam’s sinful condition as well as death was passed on to all of his descendants. (Read Romans 5:12.)
