What's the point of a smoke alarm? Statistically speaking you're more likely to be struck by lightening, than to be involved in a house fire. And you would have to turn it off when lighting your post-prandial Habano! There has not been one single reported case of a life being saved by a smoke alarm; So there is little or no point having one of the pesky things!
Dr.Watson...since you obviously haven't found one, it rather proves my point!

I use to all the time, but now I cover it up (with a plastic cover like a mini shower cap) when cooking and take it off once the washing up is done.

Not at all recently. Used to when it was by the kitchen door and cooking fumes used to set it off.

It use to be whenever I cooked but I moved the one outside the kitchen door so it's alright now.
Dr John: I think there have been plenty of reported deaths due to not having one.

I did with the one in work by putting toast in and forgetting about it the think was on fire when i went to it .... I like my toast burnt anyway.
