Mine are: The Dark Tower Series (actually 7 books long), and the Stand; all by Stephen King. If I had to pick just one, though, I would pick The Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla or The Dark Tower IV, Wizard & Glass: # IV talks about the main character's history and how he became the way he is, and # V, because it's just too action packed to not love.
