Only if you want to use the web based service. If you just want to listen from a Sirius receiver (radio) at home or in your car - no.

if you live outside the continental US, then yeah, or if you dont want to buy a reciever, you can just have it over the net with a subscription.
If you have a reciever with a subscription, then you can listen online with no extra cost.
