i mean i wrok at a fast food place and we try to keep it fast food and i have orders ready to hand out and they just sit in their car and when i try handing them their food they take one bag and turn and have a converstaion with whoever is in theri car and then take another and repeat the same thing and then they get their drinks and do the same thing .so then i say thank you and have a nice day/ night. Then I go to hand the next order out and they are still sitting there and i have a line wrapped around the building out into the street and then they ask for ketchup and a still sit there and i shut the windo again and then they want salt...then extra napkins and then people start honking and then the rest of the people in the line are totally rude to me because they think i took 4 ever getting their food ready and blah blah. I mean especially at lunch time ehrn its non stop madness and people want to be jerks and i still and nice to them all.

oh and we do put napkins and salt in the bag....its just that people wont look there and we have to give them more. and where i work we hardly ever mess orders up because we repeat the order back to them and there is a screen to see the order. we make whatever is on the screen. so i guess people that have those bad experiences don't eat where i work at.

when i hand orders out..i keep the window open because i am trying to give them their food...why would i close the window? And yes I ask if they would like ketchup/ sauce. But it just sucks when i tell them that there is stuff already in the bag and they wont even look and demand it anyways. And when i say thanks and have a nice day...most of the time I don't get a response..no thank you back or even a smile. I just feel like people think they can treat me that way because they think im stupid because i work there. I just wish people would think about others and not be so self centered.

Because they don't care that there's a mom behind them driving a van full of screaming kids that want hamburgers!

They take their time ordering their Whopper with cheese, small chocolate shake and french fries, then ask five times how much the total was. Then when they actually get to the window, they don't have their money ready!!!

If the window gets shut between getting their food and getting their drinks, it suggests that they have time to do that. So when you open the window back up again, they're not ready for the next part of their meal because they don't know when it will be ready.

Sometimes people check their order to make sure that it came out right. Usually the person at the window asks if the customer wants any condiments (at least at any fast food drive through I've been at). Sometimes people don't know if the fast food place will hand out other things (like mustard, salt).

People are slow at drive through windows because they've had bad experiences at other drive throughs. They're just making sure you don't make the same mistakes that other drive thrus have.

Then again, it could just be the psychological thing. There was some study conducted a few years ago about parking spaces that said people will actually take longer getting into their car when they know someone is waiting for the space. It could be the same thing.

It sucks that the people running the window get blamed, but unfortunately, you're the person that's still there to gripe to. The slow customer has already left. You're a captive audience.

As for the "Because people don't care that there's a mother behind them with 5 hungry kids" argument...that's correct. I only care about my order. I want my order to be right. If the mom has 5 hungry, complaining kids, she signed on for that...I didn't tell her to have five kids. Suck it up...that's just part of parenthood.

I've got to be honest, my Wife laughs when we go through a drive through.

I freeze up. I turn into a basket case. I don't know why. I've been on stage in front of thousands of people and done just fine. I don't know what it is with drive thru's.

i have no idea. i hate how it takes people 120 seconds to order. and in those 120 seconds, u try to take their order and then when they do, they are like "hellloooo?" like u havent been tryin to take their order. and then its like two things on their order. its so retarded. or how bout those 6combo orders. C'MON! order that inside, ur holding up our drive thru! and when they order their 6combos....they dont kno what everyone in the car wants, so u hear them trying to figure what everyone wants. so fustrating!

but uve got to act the nicest,, even tho ur torn inside with fustration. lol

i dont think so....im still working there. i live in Ga.

Spit in their food! Just kidding.

Wow, that's annoying. I wouldn't be able to handle a job like that, you're very strong. lol
I'd lose my patience, get out of the window and strangle someone.

From my experience, the customers are not slow at all. It is the pimply faced cashier that take forever and always give the wrong order to the wrong customer!

Sorry but if you were to offer the salt, ketchup and what ever they wouldn't have to sit there and ask for the things they should already have.

They are probably checking that the pimply jerk who served them got the order correct, like the next time it is right will be the first time!
