i think it may be down to the type of log/wood
used,and not so much the design of stove
that increases burn time

Vermont Casting's Defiant - although they are fairly expensive these days (bought mine for $500 in '79 and it's still working perfectly) Best wood stove I ever owned! Occasionally you might see one for sale on Craig's List or in a newspaper. The Defiant will heat a fairly large home - mine is 2500 sq ft and is cozy warm all winter. It's the most efficient stove I've ever seen. I hope this helps.

Get one that has soapstone. I work with two people who have soapstone wood stoves. They are amazingly efficient. They use 1/2 as much wood and are twice as efficient * as my wood stove insert.

* Both of these were WAGs
