I dont think they're done, although I drove from NYC to Philly yesterday to see them blow it and get swept. The main reasons for their losing ways:
1 - Willie Randolph. Willie is the worst manager around and he has no idea how to manage his pitching staff, which brings me to point #2.
2 - Pitching. The starters have been acceptable, pretty good starting pitching most of the year. The bullpen is dreadful. Guillermo Mota and Scott Schoenweis have been two of the worst relievers in baseball this year.
3 - Carlos Delgado. Is he finished? Yeah, he probably he is. He's going to have a career low for HR's this seasn and probably for batting average. He's a terrible fielder, he really doesnt contribute anything to this team.

No they're not done. They are still in 1st place first of all. Second they have a great core of players. David Wright's been phenomenal and so has Reyes. And Billy Wagner will come around. He's been so good all year that he was due to hit a bump. Maybe not as big as he's had lately but he's a awesome closer and will turn it around. Oliver Perez has been an excellent pitcher and Glavine can still pull out some wins. Seriously if you had to choose between the Phillies pitching and the Mets wouldn't you want the Mets???

the main reason will be Billy Wagner. i knew their pitching staff has too many old timers. El Duque is old. Billly is not looking good at 36, oliver is not old but is way to wild. and Tom Maine well hes like their only good pitcher who can pitch late in the game. and Tommy well Tommy is actually looking pretty good, but they always take him out early. BUT if Pedro comes back healthy that could change everything.
lets go Phillies 2007 NL east champs!!

The fact that the bullpen and the hitting are both slumping at the same time. If either one had been performing properly, the division race would already be over. But we're not done yet, don't worry.

Lousy bullpen (Schoenweis, Mota and Sele OMFG), lack of CLUTCH hitting. Way too many men left on base. Can't string together a real winning streak...

the Mets pitching is awful. they can hit but the pitching always shuts down good hitting.especially during the post season. they are done.
