Yes, 2 times in my life.

You can keep taking it back to the bank (or calling the bank) and seeing if the funds are available. After a certain amount of time, the check is void and no longer good.

Don't expect your employer, or former employer to be sympathetic, at least my employer wasn't, and I was working for both of them at the time.

I'm not sure if you live in the states, but if you do, we have something called, unemployment, and even if you are still employed, if your dollar amount falls below a certain amount for a given pay period, you can collect unemployment for that week. When my paycheck bounced for company #2, I collected a certain percentage back through unemployment. I just called them up, told them the situation and they took it from there. It wasn't my full paycheck amount, but it was at least some, to help me out.

In theory, you can sue for the money, but it's not worth it, after you retain a lawyer and go through filing all the paper work.

Essentially, if the funds don't get posted to the bank before the check is null and void, you will just be out of the money.

I'm sorry for you misfortune. It sux big time. Words of advice, which I'm sure you already have thought about, if you still work for this employer, I would be thinking about leaving them, if you haven't already. If it happened once, it will probably happen again!

Good Luck!

I did just that. I didn't realize that my check had bounced until it was too late. They put a warrant out for my arrest. All I had to do was contact the court and pay the warrant and fine off in full. That was it. What you need to do is contact the court and let htem know you had a ticket that you paid with a check. Tell them that there was a mistake in your balancing and it ended up bouncing. See if they will work out a payment plan with you. If they won't ask them if you can pay it in full. If they say you can pay it in full, one of two things will happen. Either they will accept your payment and pull the warrant and you are done with it all, or they will take the payment and give you a PR (Personal Recognizance) bond for you to take to the local jail and get booked in and booked, then you will have to return to court at sometime. More than likely since you were paying a ticket with it, you won't need to do the latter.

Yes, I have. I asked my employer to cover my overdraft fees due to the bounced paycheck. Hey, I live paycheck to paycheck-- I don't have a lot of 'reserve' cash or anything like that! He agreed and covered my fees.

yes I did, the company owner's son managed to get into the account and empty it, and he went in and stole all the computers out of the building too. The owner paid all of us out of his personal account, so I didn't have to do anything

This happened to me, and I quit for that reason.

I was able to collect unemployment for quitting under such circumstances.

Good thing you're applying for that job at the airport!
