I don't get it either. I wouldn't want to have to go through all the trouble of having it removed if I decide I don't want it anymore. And it will be aweful when you get old and wrinkly. I don't want to be a human billboard, but whatever floats there boat. I would just have a t-shirt made of whatever it is. It would be cheaper.

Because it makes me an individual. Because they mean something to me. I have 4 tattoos, each meaningful in it's own way. My most recent, you can see in the link below. My mom went through her mid-life crisis and got a hummingbird with a flower on her leg. She's one of the most important people in my life and I wanted to honor that, so I got the tattoo below.
I don't mind if they get old and fuzzy...I will too. Hahaha...but every time I see them, I am reminded of the reasons behind them, and proud to have them as a permanent part of me.

they are a way of expressing yourself. I have gotten a tattoo when ever something major has happened in my life (kids, divorce, etc) For me, they are a reminder of what's important, and what mistakes to avoid in the future

For the same reason people get piercings, it's a form of expression. And much like the same reason you were the clothes you do and drive the car you drive. Sure there more 'permanent' but if your that sure about yourself then why not??

I love them. Kinda like putting up a picture on your wall at home. These you get to take with you. Plus they are like jewelry, but you can't lose them and no one can steal them from you either. Today's avatar is my latest one.

I like to think of them as a social filter, if people are going to judge me because of my tattoos, those are people I don't want to associate with anyway, since they're so closed-minded

Don't get a tattoo because when you are older it will be all wrinkly and nasty looking.......
