It really depends upon how you define the word computer. The Difference Engine (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Difference_engine ) is generally considered to be the first concept of a computer, although it was never actually built. Muller's design dates to 1786, while Charles Babbage's was in 1822.

In the 20th century the first electronic computers built were Colossus (built in 1943 for decrypting Enigma codes - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossus_computer is the wikipedia article) and ENIAC (1946 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ENIAC ).

ENIAC was the first modern computer, but a hundred years earlier, they used "punch cards" to program weaving looms and archiologists have found evidence of "computers" centuries old.

In 1951 and it was called the UNIVAC

it was basicly a mechanical machine made to read punch cards and perform calculations.
