I have to fly in a few weeks and I am a large person. I got a first class flight and the seats are 21" wide. I am afraid I won't fit properly and their will be a scene. I am trying to avoid this by getting insight from others who are over weight and have flown. I am 5'6 350lbs. Please if you have anywhere near the same measurements let me know what you have done in the past reguarding your flight. Thank you

im sure you'll fit, in most airplanes, the "back" seats in first class are usually the largest, it mainly depends on the airline your taking. and if you dont fit, the flight attendents may accompany you to a "whole" aisle once airborn, i have experience from my 500pound friend =]

You should be fine in a first class seat, depending on the airline. Either ask the flight attendant as soon as you board for a seatbelt extender or, better yet, bring your own. I am also a large person and a regular seatbelt barely buckles on me -- then I'm uncomfortable the entire flight. An extender is both more comfortable and safer.

I linked to one place that sells extenders but there are plenty of them online.

I would call the airline and ask to speak to customer service department. They are bound to have spoken to customers many times on this issue.
good luck to you.
