I posted the question because that is all my favorite news sites are talking about and I am sick of people deifying a woman that honestly doesn't deserve it.

I'm sorry for my use of the word "chick", I wanted to use the word "c*nt (rhymes with punt)" but I knew you "Dianafites" would try to report my question. Morons.

I agree! The media coverage has been totally ridiculous. There's more important things happening, like murder and child rape. The Royal Family blame the paparazzi for it, so why invite them to this 'remembrance' thing? People need to move on, worse things have happened. I could understand if they were her family, but even her family aren't behaving as hysterically and stupidly as these people. I dread to think what will happen if they mark 20 years. I've got nothing against remembering someone, but just don't advertise it so much, and waste taxpayers' money on grand ceremonies. Not everyone is interested.

Yes...she was a great person and she died....but, then again, loads of great people die: the difference is she was FAMOUS and "PRETTY".
The fact people obsess about her just proves how superficial and fame oriented we are...
People who can't even say anything good about their dead grandparents or parents (who, unlike Diana, they DID meet and know personally) still often talk about her...I agree: pretty sad.

I think it's a valid question. Even the BBC website has an article today saying that the out-pouring of grief was a little over the top. Let the poster have their say. They're not alone with that thought.

Shut up! Maybe some people respect that woman, which was a great wife,a good mother, and a special woman! You don't have any chance to insult her, even if she died 10 years ago. Next time think more before ask some kinda question!

She was very important to people because of all the things she stood for and for taking a stand against her husband and divorcing him even though she was not supposed to do so as "Princess".
She represented alot of things, and for that reason, and for the fact that she had such an untimely death, people want to remember her and honer her memory.
I do want to point out though that all these made for TV movies about "who she really loved" and "what really happened" need to go. Who did it, why they did it, they motivation for it....all of that is null and void because the point is that she was in an accident, was killed in that accident, and now we just need to focus on her life and her memory.

I feel the same way be quiet! It is like asking people why they still listen to music by Elvis and watch movies by Marilyn Monroe.
I am still a Princess Diana fan even though I never met her.
I liked the way she dressed and the way she gave money to several charities.
You should read a biography about her because it seems like you know nothing about her life.
I don't like the way you called her a "chick".
I think it is tragic how she died.

because she WAS important when she was alive, she did a lot of good things and it's just a tribute to her 10 years after her death, and there's nothing wrong with it
