Our national anthem was written when India was not
divided into India and Pakistan. While securing
independence India was divided and province of Sind
went to Pakistan. We didn't change the national anthem
and therefore Sindh continues to exist in our
national anthem.

As the others have stated the national anthem was written before the partition hence Sindh was included but it continued for years to respect the feelings of people. Now just few years back there was a talk and I think it is practised in many places, esp. in schools, etc ,to use ANDHRA,instead of Sindh.I would like to know if anyone had heard this.I have heard it in some schools.

Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore wrote that song long before India got independence. When India got independence a
dilemma arose. Should Bankim chander's Vande Matram be adopte as the National Anthem? Consenscious dissenters voted against it since it affected the religious sentiments of a group. Then Nehru preferred Jana gana mana of Gurudeva and it was accepted. The province of Sind was part of India when the song was written but it was no more there when it was adopted as the National Anthem.! Yet to respect the sentiments of the poet it was retained. Nor has Pakistan objected to it till date..
